Smithy's our own real racehorse with real promise. Our chestnut thoroughbred was picked out as a foal by the legendary trainer Ginger McCain, and right now he's being trained under the watchful eye of Grand National winning trainer Donald McCain Jnr, with whom he has a good working relationship (even though it's Smithy who does all the work!).
Smithy made his racing debut at Catterick in February 2010, coming in a credible 5th, and last year did even better with a 2nd at Musselburgh.
We’re hoping Smithy will have a cracking 2012 and he is currently doing well on the gallops as he has grown and filled out. We are very pleased with his progress and looking forward to seeing him back on the track around March.
As long as the ground is decent, he should be set for a busy Spring and early Summer.
